Week 3 Work Detail

After we took the trees down last week, an excavator came in and leveled out the back lot for the house to come in.

There was a stump/roots of one of the trees we cut down in the way for where part of the foundation for the house is going to go. Wayne is sawing at the roots in an attempt to make it easier for the excavator to dig the roots out.

The excavator finally got it out after a large struggle

My next task was to work with Joline on the middle landing of the stairs on one of the dorms. Part of the wood started to rot and broke away, thus needed to be replaced.

Weekend hike in Springbrook National Park

Hannah, Chris, and Charis stand in a hollowed out tree for a slightly blurry picture

I am not sure what the name of this waterfall is, but we took the hiking trail down into the ravine to get a better look at it.

A small waterfall that we saw on the trail

Juan is feeling the power of the wind the waterfall creates. The trail allowed us to walk behind the waterfall and view it on the other side.

Jenna, Juan, Joline, Brian, Kale, and Sarah

Kale (my roommate) climbing a vine. Kale is a small kid inside a large hungry body. He only wore sandals to the park and often went off the trail. Luckily he didn't encounter anything that could hurt him

Juan "passed out" after the long decent into the ravine

Juan is revived by Joline and Lisa

We found a tree full of beautiful parrots. Unfortunately, this was the only good picture I could get.

Night in Brisbane

One of my roommates, Jeremy, and I decided to go to the city last night to watch the movie Terminator: Salvation. It was a great time and a good chance for me to get to know him better. It is really great because he is a Canadian. I guess I can't get enough Canadian roommates. THANKS MATT!!

A look at Brisbane at night. The city reminds me a lot of Chicago and San Antonio

EPIC

EPIC is a kids program that is held every Saturday afternoon on the YWAM base. I get to take the afternoon off of maintenance and help out. I usually get to work with sports and this week we got to play tennis after playing some group games with ice cream. Other activities that the kids can do are art, music, or skate park.

This game was one person from your team would lay on their back with an ice cream cone in their mouth. The rest of the team would run across the room and fill the ice cream cone with gummy worms, ice cream, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup. Once they filled the cone, the person on the floor would have to eat the cone without using their hands. I was the lucky person on the floor and I won. I guess there is a good thing for having a large mouth.

Needless to say, it got a bit messy for some of the kids.

Another activity was to create an alien monster with ice cream. My team also won this putting up in the lead to win it all
